چکیده

Background Host genetic factors are the major determining factor for variation in response to HIV infection and are related to resistance among HIV patients. HLA dRB1*1501, DRB1*1502, DRB1*1301, DRB1*1302, DRB1*1101-05 are widely reported alleles associated with low viraemia in infected individuals. Computational predictions have made it possible to identify potentially strong peptide binders to HLA molecules that so that can be then tested in vitro and in vivo as putative epitopes for peptide based vaccines. The present study investigated the consequences of sequence variations within HLA dRB1 alleles in selecting the epitopes and their interactions.

Influence of HLA supertypes on susceptibility and resistance to human immunodeficiency virus type 1 infection.

Certain human leukocyte antigens, by presenting conserved immunogenic epitopes for T cell recognition, may, in part, account for the observed differences in human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) susceptibility. To determine whether HLA polymorphism influences HIV-1 susceptibility, a longitudinal cohort of highly HIV-1-exposed female sex workers based in Nairobi, Kenya, was prospectively a...

Screening of Human Tumor Antigens for CD4+ T Cell Epitopes by Combination of HLA-Transgenic Mice, Recombinant Adenovirus and Antigen Peptide Libraries

BACKGROUND As tumor antigen-specific CD4+ T cells can mediate strong therapeutic anti-tumor responses in melanoma patients we set out to establish a comprehensive screening strategy for the identification of tumor-specific CD4+ T cell epitopes suitable for detection, isolation and expansion of tumor-reactive T cells from patients. METHODS AND FINDINGS To scan the human melanoma differentiatio...

A novel polyepitope vaccine elicited HIV peptide specific CD4+ T cell responses in HLA-A2/DRB1 transgenic mice

Human immunodeficiency (HIV) infection is a leading global health problem that causes approximately one million deaths each year. Although antiretroviral therapy can slow down the disease progression and improve the quality of life of infected individuals, it cannot eradicate the virus. A successful vaccine is one of the most cost-effective alternatives to control the incidence and mortality of...

Characterization of HIV-Specific CD4+ T Cell Responses against Peptides Selected with Broad Population and Pathogen Coverage

CD4+ T cells orchestrate immunity against viral infections, but their importance in HIV infection remains controversial. Nevertheless, comprehensive studies have associated increase in breadth and functional characteristics of HIV-specific CD4+ T cells with decreased viral load. A major challenge for the identification of HIV-specific CD4+ T cells targeting broadly reactive epitopes in populati...

Sero-prevelance of Cytomegalovirus and Toxoplasma Infections among Newly Diagnosed HIV Patients in Iran; Assessing the Correlation with CD4+ Cell Counts

Background and Objective: Opportunistic infections are the leading cause of death among patients subjected to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). The aim of this study was to compare the seroprevalence of Cytomegalovirus (CMV)  and toxoplasmosis infection in newly diagnosed HIV infected patients with healthy controls and it’s correlat...
